Employee Incentives: 5 Incentives That Actually Work

By Kevin Hunter

employee incentivesSo, you’ve got a few goof-offs on your team. Every team does. But you also have that rockstar team member (or two!) that are consistently on-time and go above and beyond to do their share, and even cover for those goof-offs.

What can you do to show those employees you truly care and appreciate everything they do for your company? These five employee incentives just might do it – and then some.

Bonuses

Who doesn’t like getting extra money? And when that money is for a job well done it’s all the sweeter. If your employees go above the call of duty and really benefit the company's bottom line, sharing the fruits of their labor with them is the best gesture to show your appreciation.

When should you give an employee bonus? You could throw a party for all employees and recognize your rockstars in a public setting, or you could quietly add a few hundred dollars to their paychecks around the holidays with a note thanking them for their excellent working habits.

You could even give all employees a holiday bonus regardless of numbers. The more appreciated your employees feel, the harder they’ll work to reciprocate.

If you’re undecided as to who’s deserving, why not have monthly sales competitions? Those employees who’ve sold the most or gained the highest number of new clients in a 30-day period could find a few extra bucks in their paychecks for their efforts. However you choose to apply a bonus, it will be appreciated. And, this little bit of investment now will add up in the long run.

Host Company Gatherings

From a once-a-month office karaoke competition to an annual Employee Celebration Festival, company gatherings are cool employee incentives in more ways than one:

  • Employees feel appreciated
  • They can let loose and get to know one another
  • They’ll be more comfortable and productive once work resumes

The one-off or once every month type of activity should be hosted away from company premises – there’s nothing more debilitating than having to be at work past quitting time, even if it’s for fun.

Some of these types of company-wide activities include:

  • A night of bowling
  • An escape room
  • Potluck dinner at the CEO’s house, or another member of management – or have signups and take turns

Getting together outside the grind of the office can foster great friendships and a renewed sense of “We’re all in this together,” come Monday morning. This is a definite winner.

Automation

Do you know the best way to get your employees to come to work? Tell them to stay home!

In all seriousness, though, the 'remote work' employee incentive is nearly fool-proof.

Currently, how many of your company functions and processes are manual and must be done in-office? How can you change that?

By automating some of your company’s processes and incorporating digital means of accomplishing tasks outside the office, your employees can virtually work from anywhere they choose.

This is a win-win for your brand – your employees are more relaxed and happier, and you get much higher levels of productivity when your employees are happy. They enjoy the freedom to work on your tasks while they throw in some of their own personal tasks at the same time, such as creating a presentation while getting a load of laundry done. This makes your employees feel like Superman and Wonder Woman. Watch your tasks move from ‘To-Do’ to Ta-Da!

Personalized Employee Incentives that Go the Extra Mile

Want to personalize your perks? Really want to show those special employees just how much they mean to you? How about these ‘thank yous’?

  • Personal chef
  • Life coach

It’s one thing to use bonuses, company get-togethers, and remote work opportunities to incentivize your employees, but it’s truly something when you also show your staff you understand how valuable their off-time is to them.

It’s difficult enough these days to commute and spend long hours chained to a desk, and at quitting time to commute home again. The last thing any nine-to-fiver wants to do when they get home is prep and cook a meal. Hiring a personal chef to take over cooking duties for an employee for a night, week, or even an entire weekend frees up their off-time to spend on other pursuits.

And speaking of other pursuits, maybe you have an employee who’s an aspiring artist, author, photographer, or even a misfit who doesn’t have much going on outside of work – regardless of the situation, giving one of your awesome employees access to a life coach could be life-changing. A life coach can help an individual develop from the inside out – it’s the kind of incentive/reward that continues to give long after the coaching’s over. It should be noted, however, that if you opt for life coaching sessions for a lucky employee, make sure it’s an individual that:

  • Would definitely benefit
  • Has outside pursuits
  • Desires direction

Pay special attention to that last attribute…If you choose an employee who, regardless of outward appearances, believes they’ve got it all together, it could be taken as an offensive gesture – and that’s certainly not your intention!

The more you show your employees how above-and-beyond you’re willing to go, the more they’ll reciprocate in the form of hard work – and loyalty.

CoreCentive's Incentives

CoreCentive can help in each of the above scenarios, and more. For instance, what if you could celebrate every milestone an employee achieves? Sound too difficult? Have too many employees to keep track of each one's milestones? What if you could automate it? Gamify it? CoreCentive can help. Our employee incentive programspush the limits of employee satisfaction. Your employees will be beyond happy and it will show - on their faces, in their productivity, and with their loyalty.

Give some of these employee incentives a go, and see how office morale skyrockets.
